Where art doesn't have to be serious!

Sweet Mabel is a colorful and fun gallery where art doesn’t have to be serious. We have folk art from all over the US and Nova Scotia, pottery, glass, jewelry, fiber, lamps, clocks… with a lot made from found objects. (Jewelry made from typewriter keys, purses from truck tire inner tubes, bowls crafted from ticket rolls etc.) Everything in the store is made in the US or Canada. Our goal was to create a gallery that didn’t look the same as every other. It had to be relaxed, not pretentious with lots of color, not the typical sterile environment of many galleries. Folk art lends itself to this type of setting, it is approachable art, easily understood, by the people and for the people.

As for the craft, no matter what part of the country we travel to, most of the craft galleries tended to carry work from the same artists, from northern Maine to southern Florida to Coastal California. And although it was beautiful stuff we always expected to see more regional art that we hadn’t already seen everywhere else. So when we opened we were determined to find artists in the area who worked in the aesthetic style we were after that could also give the shop a unique local flavor.

New exhibits open monthly during each townwide First Friday celebration. Most of our featured artists are from the Philadelphia area although many popular American folk artists are also represented. We also offer adult workshops to get the creatiuve joices flowing! Click here for upcoming workshops.

Artists wanting to submit work for sale at Sweet Mabel are seen by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, email SweetMabelArt@aol.com. Out of consideration for our customers and our gallery, we can no longer see artists, artwork or jewelry during store hours. Thanks for your cooperation.

Our store/gallery is located at 235 Haverford Avenue in Narberth, PA (right by the Greeks!).
